Welcome to the Northern Expanse, a place where nature is still unexplored, mystical, and dangerous. When the humans first arrived, they thought they found an unspoiled paradise, filled with bountiful forests, lakes swimming with fish, and cold freshwater flowing from the mountains. But as their settlements expanded and the surrounding forests grew thinner, nature itself pushed back. Great creatures known as Beasts emerged, and with their fangs, claws, and mystical powers, they proved an incredible threat to the humans. In order to protect the settlements, the humans have enlisted specialized hunters to track and kill the Beasts before too many of their kin perish. But the Beasts won’t go down easy and seek to reclaim their territory from the human invaders.
Beast is a one-vs-many game with hidden movement and card drafting. One player will defend their domain as a giant godlike beast while the other players work together as skilled hunters. The game is played over a series of rounds with three phases each: dawn, day, and night. During the dawn players will prepare, drafting to gain action cards. During the day, players will play up to two action cards. Finally at night players will receive rewards and upgrade their characters before dawn breaks again. The Beast will move over forests, swamps, and caverns, using guile and deceit to hide its tracks from the hunters and strike when they’re unaware. Hunters have one chance to search each round, making it a tense decision as they follow the Beast’s trail, hoping to discover its location.
Hunters will need to cooperate and strategize to defeat the Beast and the Beast will need to skillfully outmaneuver the crafty hunters to reclaim their territory. Who will win in this epic conflict?
