A cozy-fantasy D&D 5e adventure with Studio Ghibli vibes for teen players (Ages 12–15)

Welcome to Obojima, a magical island world where dragons graze with sheep, jellyfish drift across the sky, and every village has a festival worth celebrating. In this whimsical and spirit-filled land, adventurers are drawn not by gold or glory, but by quiet mysteries, curious letters, and the strange magic hiding in everyday life.

 

This campaign begins in the humble village of Okiri, where something stirs beneath the waves as the island prepares for the once-in-a-century Centennial Festival. This festival lasts an entire week as the Okiri Village prepares offerings to appease Ryujin, a massive dragon spirit who embodies the power of the sky, ocean, and storms. What starts as a small errand unfolds into a journey through enchanted forests, sunken towns, talking cats, and spirit markets—full of wonder, whimsy, and heartfelt choices.

NOTE:  1 Adult may sit in the session (not a seat at the table). Adults will be prohibited from partaking or influencing the gameplay.  You may speak to the DM and player (before or after each session but not during). This is specifically for ages 12-15 year-olds.
